Policy on the use of artificial intelligence

The editorial board of the Bukovyna Mathematical Journal supports the implementation of innovations, but strictly adheres to the principles of academic integrity, transparency and ethics of scientific research. This policy defines the boundaries of the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI technologies in the preparation of manuscripts.

1. Authorship and responsibility

AI is not an author: Artificial intelligence tools (such as LLM, ChatGPT, etc.) do not meet the criteria for authorship. They cannot bear legal or ethical responsibility for the content of the work, the accuracy of data or the originality of the research.

Prohibition of citation: AI cannot be indicated as an author or co-author. It cannot be cited as the primary source in the list of literature.

Full responsibility: Authors are solely responsible for the entire content of the manuscript, including the absence of plagiarism and the accuracy of mathematical calculations, even if AI was used for technical support.

2. Permissible and Inadmissible Use

Permitted: Use of AI exclusively to improve the quality of the text (checking grammar, style, spelling) or technical translation.

Prohibited: Use of AI to generate new ideas, hypotheses, prove theorems, create graphs or write entire sections of the text. Any creation of intellectual content using AI is considered a violation of the principles of originality.

3. Declaration of the use of AI

If the authors used any AI tools at any stage of the preparation of the work (except for simple spell checking), they are obliged to declare this in the appropriate or separate section. The name of the tool, version and purpose of its use must be indicated.

4. Reviewing and confidentiality

Prohibition for reviewers: Reviewers are strictly prohibited from uploading manuscripts (or parts thereof) to generative AI systems. This violates confidentiality and copyright.

Prohibition on writing reviews: Reviewers are not allowed to use AI to automatically generate review reports.

5. Verification and consequences

The editorial board reserves the right to use specialized software (e.g. Pangram, StrikeAd and other detectors) to analyze manuscripts for signs of AI generation.

In case of detection of hidden (undeclared) use of AI or generation of scientific content, the manuscript will be rejected without the right to resubmit. In case of detection of such facts after publication, the article is subject to retraction (withdrawal).
